Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about raising investment through Muslim Invest and how the programme works.
01 What is Muslim Invest?
Muslim Invest is SMBF’s introductions-led programme for early-stage companies seeking private investment from eligible Shariah-aligned angels. We help founders organise investor materials and, where lawful, make private introductions. Participation is not an endorsement.
02 Who is Muslim Invest for?
Typically, it is for UK-based or UK-relevant early-stage companies seeking a private raise, with a permissible core business, credible alignment with Islamic investing principles and founders prepared to be transparent, responsive and organised. Meeting those features does not guarantee acceptance or promotion.
03 Do founders have to be Muslim?
Our mission prioritises Muslim founders and Shariah-aligned businesses, but founder faith is not a substitute for business quality, integrity or Shariah alignment. We may consider a non-Muslim founder building a clearly permissible, values-aligned company, subject to our programme criteria.
04 What does Shariah-aligned mean for my company?
Your core business, revenue model and proposed investment structure must be permissible, and you must disclose material edge cases such as bank interest, mixed revenue and interest-bearing debt. Acceptance is not a fatwa or formal certification unless expressly stated.
05 What is the process to apply?
The usual process begins by submitting your deck and company details, followed by an initial fit review, screening and readiness, completion of the required disclosures and documentation, and eligible private sharing or pitch sessions. If both sides wish to proceed, the company and investors complete the investment directly with the relevant advisers or providers.
06 Do you guarantee that we will raise?
No. Muslim Invest can improve readiness and make lawful introductions, but investment depends on the company, its evidence and terms, investor demand, market conditions and successful completion. No fee or participation guarantees funding.
